Optical Zoom
It is armored with the f2.8-f5.8/4.6mm-17.3mm (28mm-105mm equivalent) optical zoom which is the Canon usual. As soon as the camera?s powered on the lens automatically comes out. It retracts the same way too when it is switched off. The front element is always protected this way.

OIS- Optical Image Stabilization
This system is used to reduce the blur in the picture. This also slows the shutter speed allowing more light into the picture. Overall the stabilization works well without performing any miracles like neutralizing quick moving objects for example. Once again a basic and a functional feature.

Auto Focus
The same as its predecessor and the focus is more accurate even in dim light this time.

Flash
The built in mode flash is very basic and weak. Beyond 10 feet the pictures turn out dark. Since the flash is built in that?s the best we can expect.

Performance
The outdoor images are sharp and bright in natural light. It does not perform very well when there is no natural light or indoors. The noise level is little more when it comes to indoor pictures.
